Week of darkness

This Weeks was plain boring right from the start.

I spent most of the week keeping all 5 computers at home company, reading about how some friends are also going through hard times which seem interesting to me, but, in fact could deal a large a blow to their daily routines, or even change their lifestyles. Aside of that, I have on anther hand some who are going abroad to enjoy and experience the life of other living in a foreign land, or have returned to tell their tale. Those might be the memories they treasure, but these stories are those that I can only remember.

Other than that, I watched the same 5 channels, went through some of this year's topics and filing, I was practically sleeping most of the time. I just want something unusual to happen so that time can pass real well...

Completed filing most of the piles of unfiled notes, homework, assignments and assessments of 7 files, except for the languages, for just one look at the two mountains of paper on the table is enough to send me leaving them standing on the table, although it looks much neater after I completed the other subjects.

Next thing, this is only the first week after the Cultural Nite, with lots of peace at home after the weeks of tough, but interesting practices. I really enjoyed the time spent before the actual performance, for the actual one would mean that there would be nothing but study at home for the rest of the 34 days till the day I put on the uniform again.

However, I had only completed two assignments on the list, and am now only going on to do the third. All in all, I only have this to say, that although right now times may be boring, but this is the best time to start preparing for the challenges ahead.

Cultural Nite photons- Part 1

Here are the photos for the reharsals before the actual day at Victoria Threatre:

There won't be much headings since I am bored to type them in, maybe another day, once I am done with the complete refurbishment of the blog?

These will not be placed in the second link, since I am going to switch to Beta, and I will fill all those in once I am free. The computer that I am currently using is actually on loan from my brother, so I can't really spent all that time downloading graphics in... all because there is a bit of a problem with the laptop screen...

However,
Part 2 will be down tomorrow

Yuan Ching Secondary's First Cultural Nite Concert 2006

It's exactly 25 hours after the Cultural Nite concert started. Now, I am going back to the beginning of the day, when all there was was just the drama members sitting in a simple circle going through the first draft of the script, followed by the character bonding, costume matching, reharsals, choreography, make-up and finally, the actual performance itself, last night, 8.45 pm.

I left home at 6.46am for school, whereby the trucks were already being loaded with the props, and performers ariving one by one. Departed for Victoria Threatre at 8.17 am, with Darren recieving new from Haziq that the return flight to Singapore was delayed ,so we could only expect him after 4pm that day.We arrived there only at 9.11 am. The dance members were already going through their steps and positioning once we arrived. While they were practising away, we were taking photographs of the area while taking a short tour of the area. Soon, we were back, joking and clapping away at the audience area. We were even making fun of Damien, Sean, Steven, and others. We thied out the stage for the first time, with Zhon Rong doing the lights and sounds for the first time too, and we sort of messed up, as expected, since we were not really used to the arrangement and technical properties of the venue.

We had lunch at 12.52 pm, and as a result of the tightened wire, I could not yet really bite that hard, so I passed the chicken and greens to Hong Yong. After that, we went back the the audience corner, this time to watch the mock run-through of the whole concert, leaving out the 20 minutes intermission. This time, things were better, except that the careless mistakes from the previous few reharsals were present, and that the lights and voice projection were still a problem. The good thing ws that the tablos were very real, when we saw them from the closed circuit television, used to monitor the performance going on stage.

During Dinner, I managed to finish everything, as the food was not so difficult to bite, as compared to lunch. We went back to the changing room, to notice that the opera characters were having their makeup done, which was really good. The professionals really live up to their name. We, too had our make-up done, and fortunately, was not as thick as the dancers and opera members.

7.35 pm. The actual performance begins. The band has started, and everything was proceeding very smoothly, just as expected. during the 20 minutes intermission, Darren and some others, including me, made the rounds to ensure that we were ready for the final showcase of our performance, which everyone had worked so hard for. The second bell rings, and the GOH, together with the principal, vice-principal and Mr Liew pass through the back stage to join the audience. The music cue sounds, followed by the curtains. Things went very smoothly, the sounds, lights, enteries, exits, voice projections, actions and music were very precise and accurate, which were much better than those we practised before this very moment. Before we knew it, it was time for the finale.

Around 9.15 pm. We took our bags, and headed to the stage for the photo shots. We cheered briefly for eveyone, Drama Society, Band and Dance. I then joined up with my cousin and left for Old Market for supper. I met Augustine, Yong An and someone else walking in the direction of Street 7 before receiving a lift, again by my cousin's parents, back home. I arrived at my doorstep only at midnight.

That, was the day I will always remember, for there are moments like those which people might only dream of doing...

Less than 24 Hours...

It comes, sooner or later. The time for us to showcase our one-month's worth of co-operation and participation. I do not seem to have that fear. Could it be because of the fact that I went up there to lead a thousand-strong population of students and teachers in the daily morning routine? Or could it because of the fact that I have gotten used to the role I play as?

Today things sort of went wrong for me this morning during my role. Darren played the double-beat on the instrument. In basic drumming... it signals the ending of a piece... I got confused and stopped. Anyways, I let him knew the significance of it and tried to get along with the temporary change in the beat for that period of time...Damien came today, but left almost as soon as he came. Was it for dance or for some other reason? That one simple reason is here.

Left for soccer after the reharsal at 12.30 pm. Went for lunch, followed by a game of soccer till 2.15 pm before heading straight for the National Dental Centre for a check. Now,2 and a half hours after chaning the wire, the pain is back, but not as intense as before, although it left me to concentrate only on soft food that are easy to bite. Hoping that this pain tomorrow will not be as intense as today, so that I can talk and eat in peace...

Most Dramatic Cultural Nite Reharsal Ever

Well, today has been a long day with every single moment filled with a different mood. First I was proud, then moved on to regret, happiness, panic, seriousness, calm and finally light. Many facets of the mind can come alive at any moment whenever the situation calls for it.

Cutting it ahort, I'll go straight to the details. Morning, 7.20am sent brother off at the Cruise Centre. Met Ms Kang and the rest of the scouts preparing to check-in to the ferry.

Morning,8.23 am. Arrival in Yuan Ching Secondary School. Reharsals begin in the hall, and in the classroom. There were light and happy moments here and there, as most of us tried many ways to see how we could joke around with some redundant actions and lines. We got to seriousness a little later, and things started to fit nicely into the act. The first reharsal was the worst, as there were problems with the sounds and a little on the positioning.

Afternoon, 1.10pm. Lunch arrived. It was pizza, as Ms Chee promised. i was sneaky during that period of time, and managed to get my hands on 5 slices of the pizzas from the 4 packages of flavours that were ordered. however, I did not manage to savour the beverage, and ended up buying a packet drink from the canteen instead.

1.30pm. This was when and where all the action took place, the hall. Today was also the day when we got the chance to watch all the performing arts groups perform most, if not, every item. Things were very relaxed and this time, there was hardly any glitches at all. I liked most of the performances, which is the sole reason why others should share the entertainment with the school!

3.23pm. Casualty report, 1 fainted band member. There were some touch-and-go moments, but Darren,Ms Loh,two friends and I quickly brought him back to norm(?if that is what you would call it). It came as a shock at first, only when I heard Mrs Lim reporting that someone fainted and Darren rushing to the scene. i panicked, to be honest, since I sort of forgot what to do within seconds, of which I quickly recovered and prioritised things quickly. I sprinted to the staff room( for the first time since my left elbow recovered) for the first aid kit, then back to the canteen to get a botttle of water from a stall holder, who understood my intention of 'resources first, payment later" sort of thing. I seemed to feel that my body was really light during that period, of which I really paid the money back 20 minutes later. When he was well again, I acted with a short interview by saying "don't take water". It shocked many, especially Darren. I corrected it later, with "Must take as much water as needed". Finally, what made me laugh was the box of make-up on the stage which looked like a first aid kit at first glance.I took it back to the staff room and back to the stage, of course, only to wonder why there were combs, hair gel and sorts inside a first aid kit...

Last thing of today. Search for a good lip gloss. One would definitely find it strange with 5 decent boys looking at cosmetic products. The main reason: to look good on stage. It was not too long later that I learnt from my cousin that she sold the 2 complimentary tickets at S$15each!

3 days of enjoyment?

I'll make this short, since there's 36 hours to talk about, and there is only 15 mintues to do all that talking.

Sunday, brother celebrated his 11th birthday at home. Things were fun and enjoyable, but rush. That was also the day when my laptop was almost completely reapired, as the LCD screen was still pitch-black, and all the back-up files were lost due to an error with the External hard disk drive.

Yesterday, forgot the tune for drama.I screwed up. Everything was sort of like a mess, since there were many scenes that were repeated over and over, till, I sort of almost dosed off. Everyone was dead serious, there was complete silence in the room. No one talking, no one laughing away at the silly mistakes. Simply plain seriousness.

Today was one of the most relaxed reharsal days. Everyone was very relaxed. We did a timing for two rounds of the actual performance, with some mistakes( my grave mistakes again) which all add up to 15 minutes 45 seconds. So, where is the other 4 mintues and 15 seconds? The are other things to allocate for that extra time, so, there will not be much about that for now. Edward and Yun Ru were the show stealers for today. The director made them repeat so many times with their hugging scene that everyone started to take out their camera phones and cameras to capture the moments. Although they did well after some time, the audience did not seem to be contented with their performance( these things are kind of rare in school life, ya?).

Now, to the stage trial. Many sequence mistakes with the first act, since that was our first time trying out all that movements on the simulation stage. Another problem was that most of us could not project our voices well. However, it seems like the Drama society was not the only one that encountered such problems.Damine's Blog(Link on the Links list) can cover up for that portion >>>

The second time proved to be better , a lot better. After that, went back to the room for more practices on entrance and exit, before dismissal at 4pm. Seems like Drama Society is really the most relaxed performing arts group in Yuan Ching...

Discharged

ANNOUNCEMENT:YUAN CHING SECONDARY SCHOOL IS HOLDING A CULTURAL NITE CONCERT AT VICORIA THREATRE ON WEDNESDAY,29TH NOVEMBER 2006, FROM 7.30 TO 10.30 PM. TICKETS ARE PRICED AT SGD 10 EACH. FOR MORE INFORMATION, JUST MAIL TO THE ADDRESS LISTED. THANK YOU.

Free at last. Just because of a minor injury, spent SGD248.50in just over 3 months... at least the numerals will not go any further than this, since it is now just a matter of the past.

First time talking about drama reharsals, since this is also the firtst time I had such a major role in the act. Finally it was time for me to take to the stage. What is it? just wait till the 29th. The instructor was pissed off during the first scene, as an actor could not bond emotions together with the actions. I was taking photographs during the viewing of the outline of the 20-minute act. There were not many gliches with the shots, just that I had forgotten to turn the flash off and caused things to go a little ugly, that is, having more eyes on you than one the actors.Other than that,I am unable to post the photographs here as the camera belongs to one of the main cast, Siang Ling. However, everything went smoothly after that, with everyone laughing at the silly mistakes they made. This session can really take my worries off, since things are going real smoothly.

After drama, went to wait for some friends to have lunch with. While waiting, met some friends who had their own CCA stuffs to do.But ultimately, did not have lunch, as I waited badly enough and went to the hospital without my meal. the trip this time proved fruitful, as there was no need to return for more follow-ups the next month on. Great!

Boredom

Just as expected, this is one of the worst side-effects of long-term holidays... However, this side effect seems to be like a "touch-and-go" sort of thing. CCA meetings twice a week seems to be good enough, but the days of boredom in between are more intense in between these days. I'll do anything just to kill time...

Ever since tour domestic servant left for home, it was high time to get back to work... It's not that I hate to do all the house work, but I just want to get these days of long hours done and over with. At least I found out whcih areas I am good at while at home doing the housework. In all, all that only helped me past over 3 hours of today with all that time accumulated. The rest, dosing off, keeping my eyes stuck to the LCD screen, keeping my hands busy on that controller, thinking of mathematical solutions, memorising new words and reading Total time? 24hours.So, now,I have only 3 questions to ask:
1.Can siblings ever be so lazy that everything has to be done for them?
2. is anyone organising anything during the holidays, for I would like to take part in some of them if I have the time though.
3.For computer experts only:If you have nothing to do, I am looking for someone to repair my laptop which has been collecting dust for 2 months already...You could send your replys to this address"yeo_1r9y9a1n@hotmail.com "thanks.

Good thing tomorrow is coming. Drama from 9.30 to 12.30, and head for the hospital for one last check to confirm that my left elbow is ready to take all sorts of challenges...and it's back to aim for the gold award for NAPFA next year.

up till today, this is only the third week of the November-December holidays...

Kawai? No...

Piano hunt, session 3... missed the 2nd session. A short recap... since the piano at home was 16 years old, and since my brother cant really bring out his full potential playing the current piano as the sound was deteriorating, decided to get one that will see him through the diploma level. Well, although I am not the one who will ultimately get to use the piano, but, as one who enjoys classicals, I had the thought of hearing the different tones that different qualities of pianos produce.

Session 2 was missed yesterday, since there was drama, and I was tired after reaching home.It was after their return that I heard many different company names, some famous, some never heard of before. Some examples(might spell wrongly, since I might have never seen the spelling before):Whil Steinberg, Kawai,Yamaha,Schimmel and 2 others which I forgot...

I may not be sure about this, but I think that my parents may have come to a decision on which to buy, since after all that running around, the price of pianos seem to linger between S$8000 to S$200 000...

Well, kind of regretting the fact I missed 2 good opportunities to get a go at piano and violin, which I did not have much interest in then. But now, I get the feeling as though there was something missing...
