A few more steps to the first check point of 2006.

It's almost the end of the Common Tests 2006. With another one more test tomorrow, I can finally take a very short break. The struggle was very tough over the past one month, and tomorrow, it is the last test, the Chemistry Combined paper. So far I have recieved only the result of one paper, E Maths, but it would be disclosed soon enough. So, just one more, and since I have no other tests to burden me, I have to give it my best for this one. I will be aiming for 90% out of a possible hundred. So, just a few days away to the first academic check point...

Common Test 1 2006, February

One more day to the first major academic hurdle for 2006. Well, not quite prepared for the first test starting tomorrow, but it may seem extremely short for today... I am pressing for precious time to study for the first test 12 hours away! Well, English, it should be easy to pass this one. But for the next test, Social Studies... I may have to start immediately. So, well then, off to the study... intensive revision time....

It's over...

It's over. It really is. After 3 or 4 months of intensive training, it just left. From a big event to a small portion of my memories. The Chingay 2006 event is over. The event where we perfomed at was the last...in the whole of Singapore for the rest of the year. Nope, the colourful floats won't be back till another 365 days or so.
Now, allow me to take you back to 50 hours ago, when it was the final moments of the largest contingent of dragons in Asia's grandest street parade. Basically, as ia would be a long wait, we had the comfort of waiting in the ai-conditioned hall for an hour. That brings us down to 49 hours. A few hours back, I saw the first few groups of friends who had crowd control duty. Ypu see, the performing grounds was close to the school, and most of our classmates lived close to that area too. So, it was about 30 minutes later when the first "plainclothes" classmate appeared. Now, back to the hall 30 minutes later... there, I met another 5 more "plainclothes" classmates. Who were the six I met... they should know.We even practised and revised for the coming Math test on Monday...that's tomorrow, with one of our teachers.

It was just so accurate. We were performing right in front of the minister and the principal. So afterthe next half an hour of performing, it was all over. The whole thing just got so much smaller. It is now just part of my memories. However, the good thing was that, for the second and last time for Chingay 2006, we got so much closer to the floats, i think there were 14 if i was not wrong. A driver even gave me a bottle of mineral water... Well, at least help came... no water for the last two hours...(actually I refused to drink the bottles teachers gave, I had to perform... no hands for anything else). Another ten minutes gone...it was 10.54 Pm. The costumes have been returned(99.9%), that is. There was this small ribbon that did not require me to return to the instructors... in case you do not know who, those very skilled people(seriously) who stood on the black, tilting platform the whole time we were performing. I feel the whole credit should go to them, not us on the ground. If not for them, the other 33 groups of 10 would not know anthing at all. So from now on, even if there is a new CCA staring soon in its name, I won't be joining. There just isn't any time to squeeze into my tight schedule anymore. So from now on, I have no intention of even performing(except for crwod control duty) along Orcard Road, or worse, Corporation drive for the next 10 or so years... the wait to perform as the finale item is just getting more and more unbearable... since they had added in more performances for the Taman Jurong event than the one at Orchard Road event. So, from now on, there is so much more time after Chingay, for me to go back to those days where I could study and play more, and also, spend more time with my family at home, watching the programme live from Tv, instead of performing live on the spot... It could get very tiring, but it's good to enjoy performing for the large crowd once in a while, but not all the time...

Just NOT my Day!

Today, it just was not my day.Three things which irritated me the most under 24 hours.

1) Forgot to sign English forms.
2)Forgot to bring Geography Assignment.
3) The mass evacuation exercise alarm had to be my alarm clock.
4)Forgot to bring along the English acessment book loaned to us by English Teacher.
5) 1 More extra assignment for Social Studies due on Monday.
6) Bad answers for Physics test.

Of the three, which are not by merit, the worst was to have the mass evacuation exercise drill alarm to be my alarm clock. That was very appalling. I understand that a fire drill like this had to be in place, but why today? I was already in no mood for many things, but it had to add it on. I would greatly consider it if the evacuation exercise was carried out while I was having my Physics test. I could actually discuss my answers and change them later. Who cares about the time? Either way, I actually benefited from the excercise, in fact after a while, I was happy the fire alarm woke me up. That way, I would not have to struggle for the rest of the day which I had been fighting for attentiveness during English. Next thing was that, the recess was 7 minutes away from the dissmissal of the exercise. One good thing? We had an extra 5 minutes for recess, and one more thing that added to my frustration was the nees of an Social Studies Assignment due on Monday. The only thing that I was happy with was only my Biology test which I did not really prepare for. 18/20. How good could that be?
This afternoon, what made things better for the day was that, the Biology remedial was cancelled! Finally, at least things were starting to pick up as soon as all the chaos left...

The unexpected.

Basically, I don't know what has happened lately, but many have been falling sick... Much more, this is only one major thing that happened during this and last week. I felt the urge to compose another poem, titled "The Unexpected".

The days have passed fluently.
The road has suddenly become rough,
I do not know which road to take,
Nor do I feel the good and comfort within the darkness.

I feel that warmness declining from the fireplace.
The weather cold, the street lights dim,
I have yet to get it back again.
Even now, times don't seem to be.

Times are evolving
A mass exodus of feelings and wellness,
They seem to be heading into another dimension.
Will it come back, I will find the best possible way.

CHingay 2006:Finale item

Last night, the actual thing. It was a great success. There were fireworks, our group had a larger performing space, and it was much more grand and faster than the preview. This time, the president was there. We were the luckiest group, I'd say, given that the 500 of us were able to watch the fireworks, and at the same time, have confetti raining down on us. The bad thing was, they got stuck to our sticky faces! Last night, it was telecast live on Channel 8, and on TV mobile. This morning, the instructors had their dragon's and the float's photographs on the papers.
One last thing, this event would be a once in a lifetime event and experience, for I don't even know whether there will be a second chance to walk in the middle of Orchard Road, with no cars hindering our movement. The final frontier would be on the 18th of next month, when everything would just be a thing of the past. Well, at least I can have more time to my studies and leisure...

Chinese New Year Is Still On!

The 3 public holidays for the Chinese New Year may be over, but there is still the Chingay parade to look forward to. Last week, basically travelled to the 4 corners of Singapore, visiting families and receiving gift money... ate alot of pineapple tarts too... Now, the event that we have been practicing so hard for, is starting to come to an end. Tomorrow would be the very first public appearance at Orchard Road. Tensions sure are starting to build up! Well then if there were no effort yesterday and and the many rehearsals before that, there would never be any rewards tomorrow and the days after that. Talk about it, the school's motto sure has a very simple, but important meaning...
So, until the performance makes it live on Tv on Saturday, there is still quite a long way to go before it becomes just a simple but eventful memory to be kept in the life diary... another good new chapter...
