Today was just some other ordinary day, just that the afternoon was a new experience.
1.45pm, boarded a small bus, leaving with 30++ people for the esplanade. Arrived at 2.39 pm, with Ms Ker, teacher-in-charge headind for the counter to collect the tickets.
Entered the theatre at 2.55 pm, with the 13 of us taking the seats on the second floor. Ms Ker and the others had a better view, being at the first floor. My seat was somewhere in the second circle.
3.06 pm. Start of show. The lights got dimmer every 10 seconds, until it was close to total darkness. I wont say so much, as time is running out. It was about Kate, an artist who went to China to draw a portrait of Emperess Cixi. Well, there were many high, as well as low moments throughout the musical. One quote, though, : a portrait is a two- way thing" or something like that, which I cant remember, since it's close to 10 hours ago. Another one, "Journalists alter the truth".
Comments. Well, It's a musical worth watching. There's subtitles! First time I saw subtitles in a musical. Cheography was great, especiallywhen they change scenes without you noticing what was going on with the change of characters. I think there were 3 back drops in all, and the stage was really big.Music wise, though traditional, it had a mix of modern music in it. I liked the ending most, for it was the part where there was really great choreography made to the finishing touches of the musical...all in all, Damien, you should have gone for the musical! There were many good ideas you could really put into your script for the cultural nite!
Can't say much now... Have to go... maybe I would write more soon.
