Camp Review

Three days, two nights.

FIRST DAY:

Report to school at usual time, temperature taking exercise. Those who did not make it to school that day, or did not bring had to bring their thermometers again in term 1 next year.valuables wave their white flags. The part I hated most(grouping). Departure at 9:03 am for Dairy Farm Adventure Centre(DFAC).

Go off for ice breaking, which consisted of better and more efficient methods than most of the camps I had been to. Lunch. average. Same rations as previous camps.Abseling. They said it was good, but I could not, since I feared for my left elbow. One month was already bad enough, let alone two months. Andy's group(grp 5 )was doing the Flying Fox, and Gabriel's group was doing the CRC(Challenge Rope course). Gabriel lost his balance and ended up crawling on the rope. Andy Launched from the flying fox platform by shouting. That freaked many of us out, but it helped Gabriel Regain his balance. Nice One, Andy! Maybe, that was because of the strong bonds we had formed over the past three years? Then our group(grp 6) moved on to CRC. BAD Weather= safety measures= NO CHANCE.

Evening. Camp fire preparations were really enjoyable, with some sort of a mini competition. Went to sleep unprepared, and woke up thrice due to extreme cold from natural air-conditioners.

SECOND DAY:

Reported at 6.40. CRC after breakfast and area cleaning, where we cleaned Dorm 2 toilets using brooms, soap and a fire hose. This time, I took the risk. If I could climb this one efficiently, it would be as good as able to do rock climbing.I made it, and Yew Chong said I did it real fast, within a matter of seconds? However, I felt it was no mean feat, since it was really easy, and that the height was nothing, compared to the pyramid at West Coast Park, which was about a couple of storeys higher than tha

After lunch. Here was the best part. Kayaking. Paddled really fast during that close to two hours of water fun. There was this part where everyone gathered together to form one large man made port. Had to stand up and sing some songs, before we were allowed to go free and do what we wanted. Sadly, bad weather, so we had to take cover, and ended up not trying out the rock climbing at all.

Yesterday's dinner was the best, with us getting second helpings. After Dinner, went for the camp fire. it started really nice, with all those sparklers forming yellow and green sparks amd flames. Though it was short, it was great. Message to the Students' Council: Be sure to include the cheers, songs and activities from tonight in the Secondary 1 Orientation Camp 2007!When it was time for lights out, fully-armed myself with full-cover attire. I am not going to take chances and let the cold get me once more! This time, I slept through the night till 6 am, before carelessly going on until 6.46am
.

FINAL DAY:

Reporting time: 7.20 am. Today. Well, area cleaning was a breeze. Had so much time that we went around "rioting", as in, we blocked those who were coming our way, using our man made barrier. Dispersed by a water gun. As there was so much time left, we gathered at a small corner to tell some silly stories which really killed time.

Headed back to school. Went for my first decent lunch since the camp at a coffee shop not too far from the school. My first impression of the television, was: Wow! The PSI has dipped so much! The last time I saw it, it was 40++. Now, it was 25! For some reason, everyone was talking about how Andy freaked everyone at the High elements area...

1.00 pm. collected report book. improved for languages, but dipped for sciences. Still, glad that the 3 on the sign "3E1" was going to become a 4.

now, after a decent dinner at home, I am wrtiting this article, only to say that another year has gone by. Time really flies these years. Another one more, and I will be going on to a new environment...

It seems like there's going to be a lot of work to do once the holidays officially start...

EVE of Camp

Tomorrow's going to be a tough day, for it's back to the good o'l days of camping... It's as if I have a camp every other year... I have got quite acustomed to it, since it's sort of like an annual thing, though it's not the same camp with the same objectives.

Anyway, this time I took 2hours instead of the normal 30 minutes to pack my bags, since there were many things that I misplaced after the previous camp which was like, slightly more than a year ago?

Finally, I am just looking forward to tomorrow, especially the groupings (which I depise of most). As long as a camp has random groupings, that camp would turn out to be the worst nightmare for the first 24 hours, since we're going to waste that amount of time doing ice-breaking, even after the "facillitator-induced" part is over...

Oh, yes. The new blog, which is coming out soon might not last, even after its been completed, sinced I am more used to the current system of Blogger. However, the URl to the new site will be disclosed one the day of completion, although it would not be expected to be complete until the next one or two weeks later, given that I have other more important things to tend to...

Loss of inspiration

I had not been posting in a while, as I had been worrying about other things. I had also been lazy to carry on with the creation of the new blog, which I think would be going through a month long trial once it's done, before I consider it permenant.

Lately many thoughts of the cca's future hasa been hitting me, so, I am paying more attention to that now, as well as some other trivial matters which are not as important...

Well, my personal computer is still in a pretty bad shape, so, until the problem can be solved, i would be using the main computer, which is often hogged by my brothers...

Starting to feel the emptyness...

This morning was almost bored to death... so decided to test my working speed in mathematics... semms like it has gotten slightly better, from 20 questions per hour to 25 per minute for chapter 1...this time, i did the pdd numbered questions instead of the even numbered ones...

Wondering what would happen, if I can't even tolerate 4 days of short holidays, what would become of the 2 month long November and December holidays?Maybe I would have thought of something by then, so, there's no need to worry about that...

Learning through the hard way:experience

Today, since there was no school due to the marking day, I thought that maybe i could head down to VivioCity at 3pm with my bro for a movie World Trade Centre. Average.

After that, went to do some "scouting", surveying of the shopping centre. Almost all the shops are up already, especially the first and second floor. One more thing. The shops have small entrances, but for some, that did not mean small range of sale items.

Went to West Mall at 7pm for a shopping experience, and found out how desastrous it could be. In just less than 2 hours, S$35 flowed out of my pocket... that's 3 weeks and 2 days' worth of savings accumulated from daily pocket money...Maybe I should not have brought so much with me today had I knew what was about to happen...

Anyway, time really flew back there. Right now, here i am typing away... so, after typing this, i might be switching over to Blogger Beta soon, maybe even in 5 minutes' time...

Arrival and departure of the final 15...

One week. That was the total period of time that the examinations took. The papers for this season were extreme... they were either very easy or very hard. Comments:

Chinese:
The comprehension passages were simple, but not the cloze...
English: Simple passages, but tricky questions.
Double Maths:
Emaths was easy for the first paper, but there was a 360 degree change for the second paper.
Amaths was a killer.
Science(Bio/Chem):
Chem: Not too bad, except that I screwed up for the chemical equations...
Bio: The questions need some thinking, as well as be looked at from a different perspective before you know what the question really wants...and I almost attempted suicide when I was scribbling the last question under 15 minutes, leaving no time to check the paper...Awwwww
Pure Physics:
Although it was simpler than SA1, I have to admit that there were many give away questions, especially the MCQ section.
Paper 2 was basically simpler than paper 1 , but they required some thinking...
Comb.Humans:
Georg was ok, just that I forgot the points for a question...
Social Studies was another killer wave, as my mind went blank at the source based questions. The essay questions were generally pure memory work, but they turned out just fine...
FINAL VERDICT:
tHE PAPERS WERE EXTREME IN THEIR DIFFICULTY.
CAUSE OF "DEATH": OVERCONFIDENCE, CARELESSNESS,SLOW AND HUMAN ERROR.
